:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Todd -- Finally an engineering plan to attack climate change : Book is a great example of American ingenuity and outlined a detailed plan to electrify the country to move completely away from carbon emissions. Loved the amount of detail it covered and all the data it used. Felt it was a good example of the power of America. We need to move away from activists screaming about everything to those groups that are rationally thinking about how to actually solve big problems. Highlights to me how much we need to continue to invest in STEM education as that will get us out of many of the tough situations we are facing and will face in the future. He presents reams of evidence on energy use and alternatives that would decarbonize the economy. His proposed solutions draw on some of the best science and engineering concepts, but they are not difficult to follow. An essential book for anyone addressing the climate crisis challenge. He's given some good talks too (available on the internet). But writing and speaking about ideas (hard though they are) are the easy part. The hard part is to put the ideas into practice. I am not sure the WWII benchmarks are applicable, this about leadership rather than defence. As China, India and many others are not committed the benefit would be cheaper energy and we don't need subsidised loans to get us there.
